USMCA TN Professionals VISA

Apply Now

The TN (USMCA) status is a non-immigrant visa available to citizens of Mexico and Canada, who work under designated professions under the US.-Mexico-Canada (USMCA) agreement, formally known as NAFTA.

Qualified applicants can be granted TN status so forth as the applicant meets the requisite educational requirement, has a job offer which falls under a list of USMCA TN professions. List of eligible professions.

Applicants must meet requirements for the given profession, such as holding a degree, professional license and professional experience.

✯ ✯ ✯ The application process for a TN Visa is different for citizens of Mexico and Canada ✯ ✯ ✯

Process for Canadian Applicants

Canadian citizens can apply for a TN Visa at a U.S port of entry.

  • The applicant must provide the job offer from the prospective employer; the position must be on the list of eligible professions.
  • The applicant must provide a copy of their degree or professional license along with proof of Canadian citizenship such as a passport.

Process for Mexican Applicants

The process differs slightly for Mexican Citizens.

  • Mexican citizens cannot apply at the border and should apply at a U.S consulate within Mexico.
  • The applicant should present the job offer from the prospective employer; the position must be on the list of eligible professions.
  • The applicant must provide a copy of their degree or professional license along with proof of Mexican Citizenship such as a passport. If the applicant is approved at the U.S consulate, the applicant can then apply for entry to the United States under T.N status at a U.S port of Entry.

The TN Visa is not intended for those seeking permanent residence and does not lead to a path to citizenship.  It is valid for the duration of the applicant’s employment to a maximum of three years.  This visa can be renewed indefinitely.

The TN Visa is a convenient route for eligible Mexican and Canadian professionals who seek to work in the U.S.
